Jan (1965) studied at the University of Tilburg and started his career at the Dutch Tax Authorities as an indirect tax lawyer specialized in VAT. For over 15 years he worked on many different assignments and represented the Dutch Tax Authorities in many court cases.
He was also lecturer at the internal training program for tax lawyers of the Dutch Ministry of Finance and tax inspector at the department Very Large Enterprises.
As of 2007, Jan has been working as a tax partner / VAT-RETT specialist for Big Four and other law firms. Jan has experience in various areas such as real estate, public sector, international trade and M&A. As a tax advisor he has represented many clients in court cases and provided several opinions on VAT topics. In 2009/2010 he worked as a lecturer/scholar at the University of Tilburg, Accent Indirect Tax program. Jan is also author of many articles on VAT in prevalent magazines such as “Weekblad voor Fiscaal Recht”, “NTFR-Beschouwingen”, “Maandblad belastingbeschouwingen” and “BTW-brief”.
